Dr. Roopa A. Rao, MD, is board certified in advanced heart failure, transplant cardiology and cardiovascular disease. At IU Health, she specializes in:

Dr. Rao completed her residency in internal medicine and fellowships in both cardiovascular disease and advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology at Indiana University School of Medicine. She serves as the Director of Heart Transplant and LVAD Program, as well as the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Program at Indiana University Health. Dr. Rao's research and clinical interests include improving quality outcomes in heart transplantation, advancing leadership among women in the field of heart disease and reducing adverse events related to LVAD therapy.
