Biography
Dr. Ellis received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed his general surgery residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. He completed a fellowship in Complex General Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center before joining the faculty at Indiana University School of Medicine.
His clinical focus within surgical oncology includes the management of diseases of the pancreas, liver, bile ducts, and stomach, including pancreatic cancer, colorectal liver metastases, cholangiocarcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma and gastric cancer. He additionally has a particular interest in minimally invasive robotic surgical techniques and the use of hepatic artery infusion pump chemotherapy.
Ellis is a health services researcher with a focus on the optimization of complex cancer care delivery in patients with malignancies of the liver and pancreas. He has additional experience in clinical trial development and execution, specifically in improving postoperative outcomes after liver and pancreas surgery. He has co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and has presented at many national meetings.
Dr. Ellis is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Association for Academic Surgery, Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, Pancreas Club, Society of Surgical Oncology and the Surgical Outcomes Club.
