CABG surgery helps patient return to work and community service

Months of chest discomfort, usually brought on by physical labor, finally sent Gary Cheesman to the hospital, where an EKG revealed he was actively having a heart attack. IU Health cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Kyle Yancey and his team performed a coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), the most common cardiac operation in the United States. The surgery allowed Gary to return to running his construction business and to the firehouse, where he serves as a volunteer firefighter and EMT.
