Diagnosis of a heart condition or disease brings about a lot of questions and concerns. You may be wondering how this happened to you, and what treatment options are best for you.
At IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, we can help you make sense of it all. We have the screening, precision testing, specialized care and education you need to make the decisions that feel right for you.
Advanced heart care starts with information – and everyone’s experience is different. That’s why IU Health Physicians Cardiology works closely with you to understand your unique situation.
We want to hear from your perspective how you arrived at your diagnosis, and what factors you believe contributed to your condition. We then gather our own information through screening, diagnostic testing and collaboration with your providers. This approach gives us a more complete picture from which we can start to develop your treatment plan.
Ranked as a center of excellence, IU Health Physicians Cardiology is unique in offering an onsite genetic counselor and clinical research nurses. This level of care means you have one-on-one counseling and education to help you understand how to manage your disease with confidence. It also means you have access to the latest in innovative cardiology research and clinical trials, if needed.

Once you are checked in, you will be shown to a patient room by a medical assistant who will review your current medications, take your vitals and perform an EKG if required.
You will then meet your cardiologist, who will ask you a number of questions and assess your health. You may discuss treatment options at that time. Your cardiology nurse will then complete the visit by providing more education on procedures, scheduling any additional appointments before you leave the exam room, and ensuring you are confident in what your individualized treatment plan will be.
