Biography
Dr. Karen M. Wheeler, MD, is a pediatrician with Riley Children’s Health. She earned her medical degre from Indiana University School of Medicine and completed both her internship and residency at Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Wheeler has been caring for children and families since 1993.
She was drawn to medicine because it offered the perfect blend of biological sciences and meaningful human connection. The year 2025 was especially memorable for Dr. Wheeler, as her son began his own journey in medicine—continuing the family’s legacy of care.
During a first visit, families can expect a thorough evaluation, including measurements of height, weight and head size, as well as a review of developmental milestones. Dr. Wheeler also discusses immunizations, nutrition, exercise, sleep habits and answers any questions parents may have. Her goal is to provide clear guidance and reassurance at every stage of a child’s growth.
Dr. Wheeler finds deep fulfillment in the continuity of relationships she builds with families over time. One of the greatest compliments she receives is when former patients return as parents, entrusting her with the care of their own children.
Outside of work, Dr. Wheeler enjoys spending time with her three sons and two grandsons, gardening and relaxing with her dog.
