Biography
Dr. Kessens grew up in Bloomington and is a graduate of DePauw University. She earned her medical degree at the Indiana University School of Medicine and completed a pediatric residency at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health. In 2010 and 2013, she participated in the IU-Kenya program for which she traveled to Kenya for two months and worked at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital. There, Dr. Kessens learned about global health and led ward rounds and taught interns and medical students. Her husband, Kyle, is a pharmacist whom she met in Kenya when they were both students participating in the IU-Kenya program.
Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, IU basketball, being active outdoors, and spending time with friends and family.
