Biography
Dr. Arpan V. Prabhu, MD, is a board-certified radiation oncologist in Indianapolis, Indiana, practicing at IU Health Methodist Hospital and IU Health West Hospital, where he serves as Medical Director of Radiation Oncology. He is also an Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Dr. Prabhu specializes in radiation therapy for cancer treatment, with expertise in prostate cancer, bladder cancer, rectal cancer, liver cancer and lung cancer, as well as other genitourinary, gastrointestinal, and thoracic malignancies. He is dedicated to providing personalized, patient-centered cancer care, using advanced radiation techniques to deliver precise and effective treatment.
In addition to oncology care, Dr. Prabhu serves as Director of Functional Radiation at IU Health, where he leads an innovative program offering low-dose radiation therapy for osteoarthritis and chronic joint pain. This non-surgical treatment option for arthritis provides patients with an alternative approach to managing pain and improving quality of life.
Dr. Prabhu is actively involved in clinical research in radiation oncology and has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed publications in leading medical journals. His work focuses on improving cancer outcomes, expanding the use of radiation therapy, enhancing patient education and health literacy.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed his residency in radiation oncology at the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, where he was selected as Chief Resident. He is a member of leading professional organizations, including ASTRO, ACRO and the ARS.
Recognized for his excellence in patient care and commitment to service, Dr. Prabhu was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and received the IU Health West Physician Sanctuary Award in 2025.
