Postgraduate APP Training Program

The Postgraduate APP Training Program is a 12-month post-graduate track. The program includes hands-on learning through didactic teaching, clinical simulation, team learning and immersion into multiple clinical experiences at academic and community facilities.

We will prepare you to be a well-rounded provider, leader and resource on your healthcare team. Our program is designed around specific specialty practices to expand your critical thinking skills beyond the level you received in your formal education.

The program is for nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Cohorts will start twice a year; one in the spring and one in the fall.

Upon completion of the Postgraduate APP Training Program, you will be equipped with crucial experiences and will have established a network of providers. There are multiple post-graduate tracks. Learn more about each of the post-graduate tracks:

Postgraduate Tracks

  • Increase access to quality healthcare by assisting recently graduated APPs in seamlessly transitioning into specialty practice settings
  • Nurture the confidence and competence of transitioning APPs into clinical practice thereby improving employee satisfaction, engagement and turnover
  • Immerse APPs in a collaborative and interdisciplinary model of care
  • Facilitate professional development and life-long learning through a continued population-focused, interdisciplinary education and quality assessment

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for this program, you must meet the following:

  • Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty track according to patient care policies such as ACLS & PALS
  • Completion of a designated drug screening and criminal background check
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Candidate must be board certified or board eligible
  • State of Indiana licensure or eligible for licensure

Preferred Participants

  • Newly graduated nurse practitioners and physician assistants
  • Experienced nurse practitioners and physician assistants who are interested in transitioning to a new specialty

    • Specialty selection - choose up to two for consideration

Deadline to Apply

  • Applications for the Fall Cohort beginning Oct. 1 annually will be accepted from Feb. 1 to March 31
  • Applications for the Spring Cohort beginning April 1 annually will be accepted from Aug. 1 to Sept. 30.
