IU Health LifeLine is excited to offer our LifeLine EMT Career Path Program and to become a part of our team. In the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system, the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is the entry level position and the start of a career in EMS.
EMTs are educated and qualified in assessing critical illnesses, injuries, provide first aid treatment, and perform basic life-saving health care.
The EMT Career Path Program requires no out of pocket costs to participate. You are paid to attend the program with no fees for tuition. All uniforms, textbooks, and other learning materials will be provided to you. The only cost for the student will be the registration fee for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Cognitive Exam to become certified. Currently our EMT Career Path Program is only accepting students who agree to work as a full-time team member with IU Health LifeLine.
We will prepare you to be a well-rounded EMT provider. Our program is designed to specifically to expand your clinical knowledge, communication skills and critical thinking to best serve your community. In general, to be eligible for enrollment into an EMT course you do not need to have any previous medical experience.
IU Health believes in the health and wellbeing of our team members, supporting a strong work-life balance and protecting our patients from safety errors related to fatigue. It is for these reasons we only schedule 12-hour shifts, have duty limits, and have a 10-hour period prior to any shift to ensure adequate rest prior to any clinical shift.
