IU Health, as a learning institution, has defined processes of onboarding learners that are compliance requirements to keep patients and protected health information safe.
Onboarding requirements include, but are not limited to: current immunizations, a full background check, and completion of education modules. All students and faculty coming to IU Health are expected to comply with these requirements.
Educational institutions inquiring about affiliation agreements with their school and/or individuals seeking clinical placement will need to contact one of the offices listed below.

Shadow/Observation
Students seeking shadowing/observation experiences must be at least 14 years of age and currently enrolled in a school. Shadowing/observations are limited to no more than 24 hours (total).
Immunization compliance is required to keep patients safe.
An application, documentation of immunizations, and onboarding packet will need to be completed before the shadow/observation experience can take place.
No hands-on clinical care delivery or patient care responsibilities are to be performed by the Shadower/Observer.
At this time, there is no office that arranges shadow/observation experiences. Seekers are encouraged to reach out to their provider or through personal contacts.
