Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are an integral thread in assisting Indiana University Health North Hospital achieve its mission to provide exceptional care. It is not necessary for you to have worked in a hospital or volunteered in a healthcare setting before. You need only a passion to serve others, and a commitment to helping IU Health North Hospital make each and every guest's visit exceptional.

Our Culture of Service

As an integral part of IU Health North Hospital, all IU Health North volunteers must be aware of our culture of service and our passionate commitment to exceeding the expectations of those we serve. This commitment is only strengthened through a set of core beliefs, our Maxims, that we believe must be practiced and observed every day to allow us to leave a positive lasting impression: Show Kindness. Connect Fully. Take Ownership. Create Joy. Do More.

Participating in the care of others requires a special commitment to provide impeccable service and create an experience for our guests that they will not forget.

Our Volunteers

Traditional and Student Volunteers: Anyone over 18 years of age and not in school is considered to be a traditional volunteer. Student volunteers 16-18 years of age may volunteer if we receive a letter of recommendation from someone other than a family member. College students may volunteer as well. All students must commit to working at least 72 total hours. Normally traditional volunteers serve during one, 3-hour shift per week. Based on openings, the student volunteer may do two or three, 3-hour shifts per week to reach the required 72 hours during the summer break.

For student volunteers, based on the shortening of summer breaks, our volunteer requirement of giving 72 hours may not necessarily be completed during June & July alone and may require an additional commitment before school ends, or once school begins in the fall, one night per week.

Team Member Volunteers: Full-time, part-time and supplemental team members of IU Health North Hospital are crucial to assisting IU Health North Hospital in providing exceptional care. If you have an interest in volunteering for IU Health North Hospital outside of your normal work hours and department, please contact us for more information.

Your Commitment
