A number of Indiana University Health hospitals are recognized by Blue Cross Blue Shield as Blue Distinction® for providing our patients with safe, effective specialty care. In order to achieve Blue Distinction status, hospitals must meet a precise set of meticulous standards for high-quality specialty care.
This includes meeting nationally established quality care and outcomes criteria developed by the medical community. Hospitals are evaluated on the care team’s expertise and the number of procedures performed at the location. Blue Distinction Centers have a history of delivering better results – including fewer complications and readmissions – than hospitals without these recognitions.
