Internship Program
Leadership Development program members typically begin their experience with IU Health through a summer internship. This is a 12-week program designed to expose interns to the business side of IU Health.
Interns actively manage a business case/problem and utilize strategic thinking and innovation with key team members to arrive at possible solutions and recommendations. Assignments are comprised of all aspects of the system, providing the opportunity to gain high-level healthcare industry knowledge, develop departmental strategy concepts, track projected ROI for the business unit, and deliver recommendations to department leaders based on researched outcomes. Interns present final recommendations and solutions to the IU Health executive leadership team.
At the completion of the internship, the interns may receive a full-time offer to IU Health and continue their leadership development journey.
Full-Time Program
The full-time Leadership Development Program is designed for those seeking to gain skills needed to advance into an executive leadership role at IU Health. Members have significant opportunity to interact with senior and executive leadership, providing broad exposure to the system and organizational structure.
Professionals in the full-time program work alongside leaders to enhance their professional development, while advancing through a series of rotations over the duration of the program. Rotations are intended for members to experience the full breadth of desired experiences at IU Health by supporting various executive leaders who lead diversifying programs across the organization. Rotations average 18-24 months in order for members to oversee the completion of their business case from start to finish. Timelines vary based on the business case.
In general, members work collaboratively across business units and departments to arrive and execute best possible solutions for specific business cases. They actively participate with process redesign teams to analyze and test improvements within department areas of focus. They present key highlights and recommendation to system leaders. With approval, they implement project plans and facilitate escalation processes to unforeseen complications. Upon project completion, full-time members communicate results of the work to executive leaders.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university. Graduate degree and/or Financial Certifications such as CPA, CFA, etc. is preferred.
