In December 2025, the Board approved a $153 million investment, named the Metro North Growth Strategy Project, to serve the growing patient populations in the northern Indy metro market, including Hamilton and Boone counties.

The project will increase IU Health North Hospital acute care, create new ambulatory locations in Westfield and Zionsville, and build out shelled operating room and procedure room space at IU Health Fishers.

Construction is slated to begin in 2026 with phased openings through the end of 2028.
